Oak Frame Farmhouse

Large 5 bed new build country home.

This project is for an extensive new-build 5 bedroom country home within a a charming large plot with rolling landscapes, paddocks and stables and wonderful views towards the Chiltern Hills.

The house replaces a smaller dilapidated 3 bedroom bungalow. The new house is of a traditional pitched roof form with 2 levels of varied living and bedroom spaces plus attic bedrooms within the roof void. The form is articulated with glazed double height bay windows, lean-to pitched roofs, and dormers which can be seen as a modern take on a traditional family farmhouse. The single storey volume which extends from the main house provides a dramatic family space with generous kitchen, dining and living areas under a pitched and vaulted oak-framed ceiling.

The house was built by ‘Oakwrights’ and is entirely oak-framed which gives the whole house warmth and interest. (with q2 Architects)
